Chiapas CoService partners Mexican university students with international volunteers. Each participant articulates their own learning goals and objectives and participate in thoughtful analysis and reflection throughout the process and upon completion. This can be academically based or co-curricular, and in both cases we facilitate the process of knowledge emerging through the transformation of experience
CoService strives to:
- Connect learning objectives with expressed community need
- Provide an opportunity for cross-cultural relationship, language, paradigm immersion experience and training with a local partnership
- Raise consciousness regarding the inequitable systems and structures within the global context, such as the North/South divide, gender disparity, education (or lack of it), economic and market issues, land rights, human rights, etc.
- provide an opportunity to participate in locally-based, sustainable solutions
